GARY, Indiana (Fox 32 News) - A car crashed over the edge of an overpass in Gary, Indiana, on Sunday, after the driver was shot and killed.

Two passengers were injured.

The man who was killed was identified as Dalvontay Kelly, 24. His family said he was on his way to breakfast and they have no idea why he was shot.

"We're waiting on some type of information," said Kelly's aunt, Mary Gates. "That was my nephew. We loved him. He was not involved in any gang."

The investigation into the shooting closed the I-80/94 interstate at Grant Street for nearly four hours. The car had fallen about 23 feet.

Kelly's family gathered near the restaurant where he worked to provide for his two young children. Relatives said the children's mother is devastated.

"I don't know how she's going to function without him, because he was the glue that held them together," Gates said. "I hope if somebody saw something that happened, please come forward.

The wounded passengers, identified only as a 23-year-old Gary man and a 20-year-old Gary man, were expected to recover.
