Chicago crime: Gunman on the run after breaking into home, shooting 37-year-old man

A gunman is on the run after breaking into a home and shooting someone he knew on Chicago's West Side, police said.

The shooting happened around 5:44 a.m. inside a residence in the 5500 block of West Jackson Boulevard. A 37-year-old man was inside the home when the gunman, someone he knew, forced his way in and opened fire.

The victim was shot in the left shoulder and taken to a hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

No other injuries were reported.

The suspect fled in an unknown direction and has not been taken into custody.

Area Four detectives are investigating.
