Chicago police warn of child luring attempt in Little Village
CHICAGO - Chicago police are alerting the public about a child luring attempt that took place on Tuesday.
The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. near 2400 South Trumbull Avenue and 3432 West 24th Street.
What we know
A young girl was walking to school when an unknown man standing on the sidewalk attempted to wave her over.
The student crossed the street to avoid him, but the man followed her in a gray GMC Acadia with yellow temporary tags. Police said the man drove alongside her, asking where he could sell clothing and shoes. He then asked about the girl's age, destination, social media accounts, and how to contact her.
The girl did not speak to the man and continued walking toward her school. The man eventually fled northbound on Homan Avenue.
What we don't know
Authorities have not yet identified the suspect.
Suspect description
- Male white Hispanic, 20 to 30 years old
- Olive complexion, skinny build, with brown or black hair
- Last seen driving a gray GMC Acadia with yellow temporary license plates
