Concerned father speaks out about messaging function in popular music app

A father in Illinois became very concerned when his 7-year-old daughter started receiving alarming messages on a popular music app called Musical.ly.

The app has a messaging feature that Brad Summer didn't know about until his daughter started getting some weird messages from a stranger.

Summer posted a message on his Facebook page warning parents about this feature:

He starts out saying, 'First I want to say how proud of our daughter I am and want this to be a warning to your families. Instead of saying the words, let me show you; see below... '

'Our daughter does not have a phone of her own. This app was on one of our phones for use when we were around. She used this app to connect with her cousins and make goofy duets of songs together.'

The person sending the messages repeatedly asked the young girl for pictures with no shirt on and nude photos, saying it would be a secret between them.

Summer says, 'This post is meant as a warning call to others that let their children use this app. This post wasn't meant for people telling me how to raise my child. My child came and told me and it didn't get any further luckily.'

'Please feel free to share if you think it can help others.'
