Cook County man accused of sexually assaulting two children in 2016 and 2018

Alan I. Diaz-Suarez

A Cook County man was arrested last week after two victims came forward and accused him of sexual assault in 2016 and 2018.

What we know:

Alan I. Diaz-Suarez, 37, of Wheeling, faces two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

The charges stem from an investigation that began after a victim reported to police earlier this month that abuse occurred in Palatine in 2018.

A second victim, who is a family member of the first victim, then came forward with allegations of abuse in 2016, also in Palatine, police said.

Police identified Diaz-Suarez as the suspect in these incidents and arrested him on Jan. 23.

He appeared in court on Tuesday for a status hearing, where he was ordered to be detained at the Cook County Jail.

What's next:

His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 21.
