Fairfax County chase suspect hits self with own car (VIDEO)
MOUNT VERNON, Va. - Video captured a man fleeing from Fairfax County police being hit by his own car as he attempted to escape, according to officials.
Fairfax County police released the video on Tuesday of the event that happened at about 1 a.m. on Sunday.
Authorities said 30-year-old Isaac Bonsu led police on a chase and jumped out of the car to led officers on a foot pursuit in the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County.
Dash-camera video captured Bonsu jumping out of the car as it was moving and attempting to run in front of the vehicle, according to police.
You can see Bonsu being struck by the vehicle, knocking him to the ground before he stands back up and scrambles off.
Authorities said Bonsu, of Alexandria, was eventually taken into custody and faces his third charge for DWI. Bonsu also faces charges of felony hit and run, two counts of misdemeanor hit and run, disregarding an officer’s signal to stop, driving while revoked – DWI related, driving without a license, driving with an open container, possession of marijuana and illegal window tint.
Officials said Bonsu was physically OK after the incident.
