Family hunts for lost wedding dress left in suburban storage facility

A woman in the south suburbs is trying desperately to find a missing wedding dress.

She says she lost it when she didn't pay for her storage unit, and the wedding dress was supposed to become a family tradition.

A friend posted the plea on Facebook, writing "Help us find this dress." It’s a 1964 vintage wedding dress.

Bridget Marlowe’s mother wore this dress almost 55 years ago. Marlowe was saving it for her daughter.

“For her to have this dress and wear it on the day she gets married would be a dream come true for her,” she said.

Marlowe thinks the dress was in her storage unit at an Orland Park facility. When she fell behind on payments, her unit was auctioned off.

“Probably should have asked for help, but that's hard for me to do that and I eventually lost the whole unit and the dress with it,” Marlowe said.

She says she got her personal pictures back from storage, but not the dress.

“It's heartbreaking, very heartbreaking,” she said.

Marlowe hopes to track the dress down, with the help of social media.

“It would be amazing. My heart would be happy,” she said, so her daughter can wear it one day.
