Caramels, truffles, marshmallows and S’mores are just some of the treats you can buy packaged and ready to go.

A sweet treat
The backstory:
All the sweet treats at Katherine Anne Confections are made fresh in-house. Owner and chief confectionista Katherine Duncan says that's the only way she’d have it.
Growing up on a farm, her mother insisted on making homemade ricotta before serving lasagna.
Duncan, however, may be best known for her truffles.
"Classic flavors like lemon poppyseed, hazelnut, we also have a raspberry champagne truffle that we make with farmers market raspberries," she said. "We have a freezer full of them in the back that we use all winter long."
A newer offering inspired by a TikTok craze is the Dubai Bar.
"It’s a mixture of pistachio cream, pistachio butter, tahini, and toasted shredded phyllo. So, it’s like gooey and crunchy all at once, and we do a layer of bittersweet chocolate on the outside," Duncan said.
She has been selling her homemade confections since 2006. She then opened a Logan Square store in 2012 and a second location on West Irving Park about a year and a half ago.
The "drinking chocolate" menu features a variety of hot chocolate flavors, each served with a homemade marshmallow, toasted to perfection right before your eyes.
