Garcia: Laquan McDonald video 'concealed for political gain'

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Garry McCarthy is no longer Chicago Police superintendent after Mayor Rahm Emanuel asked for his resignation Tuesday.

Protesters and some city officials had been calling for McCarthy's dismissal for days in response to the handling of the Laquan McDonald shooting and the dash cam video that was released last week.

Those calling for him to step down included Cook County Commissioner Jesus "Chuy" Garcia who joined protesters on Black Friday on the Mag Mile.

Cook County Commissioner Jesus "Chuy" Garcia joined Good Day Chicago on Wednesday to talk about the removal of Garry McCarthy as Chicago Police superintendent and the decision surrounding the release of the Laquan McDonald video.
