Girl, 11, stopped for speeding, says mother let her drive

A Pasadena mother is facing charges after she let her 11-year-old daughter drive.

Maria Lopez, 25, has been charged with two counts of child endangerment.

Pasadena police say they pulled over Lopez's daughter for speeding on S. Shaver St.

The young girl told officers she was driving herself and her 10-year-old brother home after getting permission from her mother, who was shopping at the time.

Lopez is free on $3,000 bond after appearing in court on Monday.

The girl told officers it wasn't the first time her mother had allowed her drive, but that this was the only time without an adult.
