Hospitals so desperate for nurses, some offer bonuses of $10k and up, tuition help, free housing
(Fox 32 News) - Looking for a new career? Hospitals across the country are offering major incentives to recruit new nurses.
Some hospitals are offering five-figure signing bonuses and paid college tuition for employees and their children.
Others are providing free housing and up to $20,000 in moving costs.
This comes as experienced nurses are retiring at a rapid clip, and there are not enough new nursing graduates to replenish the workforce.
The American Nurses Association estimates that the U.S. will need to produce more than a million new registered nurses by 2022 to keep up with demand.
