Illinois police search for suspect in mall shooting

CHERRY VALLEY, Ill. (AP) — Police in northern Illinois are searching for a person who fired gunshots during a fight at a mall in Cherry Valley.

Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana says the shots were fired during an argument between two groups of men or teens Friday evening at the CherryVale Mall.

He tells the Rockford Register Star it appears one of the people involved in the argument was injured.

Authorities put the mall on lockdown for several hours and evacuated hundreds of shoppers and employees but did not find the suspected shooter.
