You never know who might show up for a visit with President-elect Donald Trump at Trump Tower New York and on Tuesday the surprise guest was rapper and designer Kanye West.

The two men posed for photos but didn't say much about their 30-minute discussion.

Trump said the two were "just friends" and called the musician a "good man." The president-elect said they discussed "life." The two did not answer questions about whether West would perform at the Inauguration.

West stood silently next to Trump for photos in the lobby of the 'New York White House' as Trump Tower New York has been dubbed. Asked why he wasn't speaking, West said, "I just want to take a picture right now."

West arrived at about 9:30 a.m. dressed in all black and sporting blonde hair.

He did not speak to reporters on his way up to meet with Trump.

West's wife, reality star Kim Kardashian West, was nowhere in sight.

Last month, West said he didn't vote in the presidential election, but if he had, he would have voted for Trump.

West, 39, was recently released from a Los Angeles hospital where he was reportedly treated for exhaustion after canceling the remainder of his 'Life of Pablo Tour.'
