Man, 64, killed in hit-and-run while crossing street in Cragin: police

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash Sunday night in the Cragin neighborhood on the West Side, police said.

About 10:20 p.m., the 64-year-old was crossing the street when he was hit by a white Ford Edge SUV in the 5200 block of West Fullerton, according to Chicago Police.

The driver of SUV was speeding east on Fullerton Avenue when they struck the man, who died at the scene. The driver sped away east and then turned north on Laramie Avenue, police said.

The suspect’s SUV lost its driver’s side mirror in the crash, and likely sustained damage to its front driver’s side.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run was asked to call the Major Accidents Investigation Unit at (312) 745-4521.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office had not released details about the death.
