Man fatally struck by Metra train in Woodstock identified
WOODSTOCK (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A man who was fatally struck by a Metra train Thursday afternoon near northwest suburban Woodstock has been identified.
Inbound train No. 646 on the Union Pacific Northwest line, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 3:33 p.m., struck a pedestrian shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday about two miles south of the Woodstock Station, according to Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile.
He has since been identified as 47-year-old Gregory M. Voiron of Woodstock, according to the McHenry County coroner’s office. An autopsy found he died of multiple injuries to his head, chest and abdomen.
