Man killed, child among 2 injured in Yorkville crash

YORKVILLE (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A man was killed and two people, including a child, were injured in a crash early Wednesday in southwest suburban Yorkville, police said.

About 4:30 a.m., a gold Hyundai Accent went off the roadway while traveling east on Route 126 near Hopkins Road, according to Illinois State Police.

The man driving the Hyundai over-corrected, and his car veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a westbound Chrysler 300, police said.

The man, identified as 26-year-old Matthew Butler, was pronounced dead at the scene, police and the Kendall County coroner’s office said. His cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma due to the vehicle collision. Butler, who lived in Sheridan in LaSalle County, was the only occupant of the Hyundai.

An adult and a child in the Chrysler both suffered broken bones in the crash, police said. They were taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.

Route 126 was closed to traffic for about 3 hours after the crash, police said. No citations or charges were issued.
