Man shot and pistol-whipped at Chicago car dealership
A man was pistol-whipped and shot at a car lot office on Chicago’s West Side.
It happened Friday afternoon in the South Austin neighborhood and police are still looking for the suspects.
The victim was a 46-year-old man who survived a shot to the chest, and it happened inside his business.
Neighbors say the car lot at 516 North Cicero Avenue has gone through several owners in the past couple of years. And on Friday afternoon, the office located inside a trailer turned into a crime scene.
Around lunchtime, police say two people burst into the trailer, held the victim down, beat him with a handgun and then fired several rounds at him.
The gunmen left the scene and the 46-year-old victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition. Neighbors say the victim is the owner of the nondescript lot, which is filled with used cars.
The property is surrounded by a chain link fence, signs are posted that read no trespassing and the building does have surveillance cameras.
Chicago police worked the scene for several hours collecting what evidence they could and investigating what led up to the attack.
Chicago police say they are still looking for the two suspects and still don't have a clear cut motive.
