Man wanted for trying to kidnap girl in Wrightwood

CHICAGO (STMW) - Police are looking for a man who tried to abduct a girl Tuesday afternoon in the Wrightwood neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The girl was walking home from school in the 7900 block of South Talman at 3:45 p.m. when a man grabbed her by the shoulder and pulled her backward, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The girl bit him on the hand and he released her, allowing her to run to her home, police said. The man ran off southbound on Talman.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-9 black man between 150 and 160 pounds, police said. He has brown eyes, black hair in a short fade haircut and a dragon tattoo on his left forearm.

He was wearing a black mask, a red sleeveless down jacket, a black T-shirt with “POLO” written on it, black Nike gym shoes, baggy blue jeans and red and black plaid underwear, according to police. He may have been driving a newer-model gray four-door vehicle with tinted windows and dirty rims.

Police said he may also be the same suspect wanted for a burglary in the 2600 block of West 79th Place on Wednesday.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
