A technical problem that affected Metra’s email and Twitter alert system on Wednesday, leaving customers unable to get information about statuses and delays, has been resolved some 48 hours later.

Metra announced the problems with its email and Twitter alert system, which impacted about impact about 100,000 customers who had signed up to receive them, have been resolved and real-time service alert messages are being delivered again.

The problem is believed to have been related to a queuing problem with a new email service, a statement from Metra said.

“While it took longer than we wanted to resolve this glitch, we can now report that the Metra alert system is back online and fully functioning,” CEO Don Orseno said in a message to customers. “We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced as a result of this problem.”
