New video shows driver striking man in Chicago

Chicago police are asking for the public's help in identifying the driver in a violent hit-and-run in the area west of UIC.

The newly-released video is from Monday around 8:15 in the morning.

In the video, you can see a man crossing Claremont Avenue when the driver of a dark colored Jeep Cherokee makes a left turn from Polk and hits him.

From the video Chicago police posted, it appears the driver briefly stepped out of the SUV -- long enough to get a glimpse of his face -- and then he gets back in the vehicle and drives off.

There’s no word on the victim's condition. Police didn't release any of those details.
