CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Wednesday marks National Hot Dog Day and to commemorate the holiday, ketchup company Heinz released a new ad campaign, announcing the development of a new tomato based “Chicago Dog Sauce.”

Since most Chicagoans consider ketchup on a hot dog practically sinful, Heinz created the campaign marketing the new sauce as a topping for the traditional Chicago-style hotdog – yellow mustard, onions, sweet relish, pickle, tomato, sport peppers, and celery salt.

In a marketing video for the sauce covered by Adweek – Heinz had local Chicagoans taste test the new product, with seemingly positive reviews.

But the “Chicago Dog Sauce” …. is really just normal ketchup in disguise.

The local taste testers reacted with disgust, as expected.

Chicago Dog Sauce is available for a limited time for $5 at chicagodogsauce.com.
