One train cancelled after Union Station fire

A train fire at Union Station was struck out after about 20 minutes during Monday’s evening rush hour.

The electrical fire was reported about 4:45 p.m. on Milwaukee District West Line train No. 2235, according to the Chicago Fire Department and Metra.

The train was scheduled to depart Union Station at 5:05 p.m., but will no longer operate, according to Metra. Train No. 2239 will make extra stops from the Mars through Mannheim stations, and again at National Street, to accommodate passengers.

The fire was struck out about 5:10 p.m., according to fire officials. No injuries were reported.
