Police: 1 killed, 3 injured in Tri-State Tollway crash
SUN TIMES MEDIA WIRE - A man was killed and three other people were injured in a crash early Monday on the Tri-State Tollway.
A semi-truck struck a car at 4:38 a.m. in a northbound lane of Interstate 294 near 115th Street in southwest suburban Worth, according to Illinois State Police.
The semi then overturned and the car became “engulfed in flames,” police said.
The driver of the car, 36-year-old Brian Gibson of Atlanta, Georgia, was unable to get out and died, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The semi’s driver and two passengers from the car were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
