Police: Bicyclist killed, pedestrian injured in Lawndale crash
CHICAGO (STMW) - A bicyclist was killed and a pedestrian was injured late Sunday when they were both struck by a vehicle in the Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side, police said.
The 55-year-old man was riding a bicycle when he was struck by the vehicle about 11:20 p.m. near South Kostner Avenue and West 14th Street, according to Chicago Police. The vehicle then hit a 45-year-old man walking nearby.
The bicyclist was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not confirm the fatality early Monday.
The pedestrian was also taken to Mount Sinai, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
Charges were pending against the driver Monday morning, but additional details were not immediately available.
