Police: Burglars targeting North Side businesses
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Chicago Police are cautioning North Side business owners to keep their surveillance camera systems in good repair after a series of burglaries this month in Rogers Park and Edgewater.
One or more burglars have broken into stores through the back door to steal goods and take cash from registers, according to a police alert issued late Sunday. The burglaries happened:
— between 2 and 6 a.m. Jan. 23 in the 6500 block of North Clark;
— between 7 p.m. Jan. 21 and 9 a.m. Jan. 22 in the 6600 block of North Clark;
— about 4:30 a.m. Jan. 16 in the 1100 block of West Thorndale;
— between 4 and 8 a.m. Jan. 13 in the 1400 block of West Morse; and
— between 9 p.m. Jan. 8 and 6 a.m. Jan. 9 in the 6900 block of North Sheridan.
In one incident, security camera footage showed a black man with a goatee, standing between 5-foot-11 and 6-foot-2, and weighing 180 to 210 pounds, police said. He was wearing a knit hat, a hooded sweatshirt and a heavy hooded jacket.
