Police: Cyclists robbed along The 606 trail in Logan Square

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Three robberies of bicyclists along a portion of The 606 trail in Logan Square in recent weeks on the have prompted Chicago Police to issued a community alert.

According to police, the robberies — all of which occurred around the park’s closing time — were reported about 11:30 p.m. Feb 19 at 3200 W. Bloomingdale; about 11:15 p.m. March 1 at 2542 W. Bloomingdale; and about 10:30 p.m. March 3 at 2558 W. Bloomingdale.

In each robbery, the victims were riding their bikes when they were tackled or placed into a headlock by two to four males, police said. The suspects then ran off with the victim’s property. In the March 3 robbery, the victim and one of the suspects struggled over one of the suspect’s handgun.

The suspects were described as two to four black males, between 16 and 21 years old, police said. They stand between 5-foot-7 and 6-foot-2 and weigh between 125 and 180 pounds. They have short, possibly shaved, hair and dark complexions.

During the robberies, they wore black, gray or blue hooded sweatshirts, police said.
