A Columbus, Ohio police officer was hospitalized after cutting his mouth on a sandwich that contained several shards of glass while eating at a restaurant Monday, multiple outlets are reporting.

The cop was held overnight at Grant Medical Center and is expected to be OK, according to FOX 28 Columbus.

No charges have been filed in the case.

Reports said the officer noticed a "grisly texture" when he bit into the sandwich, saw his mouth was bleeding and looked down to see the glass.

The restaurant was shut down for interviews and detectives told FOX 28 that it is unclear wether the incident was accidental or intentional. Local public health officials are investigating Tuesday at the restaurant, whose name is currently being withheld.
