Semi-truck crashes into apartment building in Lansing

LANSING (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A semi-truck crashed into an apartment building Tuesday morning in south suburban Lansing.

At 4:53 a.m., the semi-truck left the roadway and crashed into the apartment complex at 18423 Torrence Avenue, according to preliminary information from Lansing police.

The driver of the semi-truck, a 32-year-old man, was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A 36-year-old man who was inside the building was taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

Torrence Avenue was closed in both directions at 184th Street for several hours, police said. The semi-truck was removed from the building and the street was reopened by 12:14 p.m.
