SPONSORED ADVERTISING BY NORTHSHORE UNIVERSITY HEALTHSYSTEM: Dr. Mark Bowen is the Division Head of Sports Medicine for the NorthShore Orthopaedic Institute. He is also a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon at NorthShore University HealthSystem, concentrating on sports-related and traumatic injuries to the knee and shoulder.

His areas of special interest are arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, and treatment of meniscal tears and rotator cuff injuries.

Dr. Bowen earned a medical degree from Cornell University Medical College and completed a residency and fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Reconstruction at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. During this time, he was given the Philip D. Wilson Award for Outstanding Research. Dr. Bowen serves a team physician for the Chicago Bears, and has also been team physician to the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Cubs, New York Giants and the Big Ten Conference.

Dr. Bowen is a frequent instructor for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Board of Medical Examiners, and the author of numerous publications on the repair of the knee, shoulder and elbow.

He has been named by Woodward/White as one of "The Best Doctors in America."
