Valedictorian says principal would not let him talk about Jesus in speech
Valedictorian Sam Blackledge says the principal made him take Jesus Christ out of his speech.
SCIOTA, Illinois (Fox 32 News) - An Illinois high school senior said his valedictorian speech was censored because he planned to mention Jesus Christ.
Sam Blackledge was the valedictorian at West Prarie High School in Sciota, which is near Peoria.
He said the principal read it over at the last minute and told him it was "inappropriate for the setting."
Blackledge said he skipped the part about "in life, we search for all these satisfactions, but only Christ can supply these things."
Blackledge is now being represented by First Liberty Institute, which has demanded an apology and a change in policy.
