The Walgreens drugstore chain is opening more than 50 neighborhood health clinics across the Chicago region.

The 56 locations of the Advocate Health Care clinics cover eight counties: Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will.

Patients at the walk-in clinics will be able to receive physicals, vaccinations and travel immunizations, as well as treatment for common injuries and illnesses.

Care will be provided by nurse practitioners and medical assistants.

A kickoff event is planned for Wednesday morning in Downers Grove.
