A Cobb County woman is facing child cruelty charges after sitting on her son’s head until he passed out, according to an arrest warrant.

Susan Elizabeth Kelley was arrested on May 11 in connection to the alleged incident which police said happened at her home on Patrick Drive.

The arrest warrant states that Kelley placed her 2-year-old son’s head on the seat of a wooden dining room chair with a towel placed under his head. The arrest warrant then goes on to outline how she sat on her child’s head with the full weight of her body for an hour, all in an attempt to gain submission from her toddler.

Medics rushed him to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston where he was treated for physical injuries that included redness to the head, chest, and back after the warrant states the young boy became unresponsive.

Kelley was booked into the Cobb County Jail on a felony charge of cruelty to children. She later was freed on bond.

The Cobb County Police Department would not comment on the case, but the arrest warrant indicates the child is expected to make a full recovery.
