Winter athletes take flight at Norge Ski Jump Tournament in Fox River Grove

There is a special event happening in Fox River Grove this weekend – winter athletes will be flying high at the Norge Ski Club.

What we know:

The Norge Ski Club is bringing back its annual ski jump competition and this year’s event is special. It’s the 120th annual tournament.

Scott Smith, president of the Norge Ski Club, said it’s a tradition in Fox River Grove. Thousands of people attend to watch this international event.

If you’ve never been, it’s truly a sight to see. The ski jumpers quite literally fly through the air.

Jumpers like Isaac Danielson, of the Itasca Ski Club in Minnesota, travel from around the world to participate.

Semi-professional ski jumper Hunter Gibson said it’s hard to describe the feeling of flying, and the thrill never goes away.

The backstory:

The club is known for preparing athletes for Olympic-level competitions. Norge is home to U.S. Winter Olympic Team ski jumpers from 2018 and 2022.

The Norge Ski Jump Tournament is a family-friendly event, and spectators can enjoy food and beverages while watching the jumpers.

The event supports the Norge Ski Club, where kids of all ages learn to ski jump. The two-day tournament begins Saturday morning and runs through Sunday.
