Chicago Bulls send Zach LaVine to Sacramento in multi-team trade | Reports

After over a year of speculation, the Chicago Bulls have traded Zach LaVine.

According to ESPN, the Bulls have traded star Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings in a multi-team deal that will also send Kings' star De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs.

Kevin Huerter will come to Chicago as part of the trade, according to Marc Stein. According to NBA reporter Sam Amick, the Bulls will also receive Zach Collins and Tre Jones.

The full trade:

  • The Spurs received De'Aaron Fox and Jordan McLaughlin
  • The Kings received Zach LaVine, Sidy Cissoko, first-round picks in 2025, 2027 and 2031, one second-round pick in 2025 and two second-round picks in 2028.
  • The Bulls received Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Kevin Huerter, their own 2025 first-round pick. The Spurs would have gotten the Bulls' first round pick if it landed outside the top 10, as the Bulls dealt those rights to San Antonio in the trade that landed DeMar DeRozan in Chicago.

In the 2024-2025 season, LaVine averaged 24 points per game in 42 games. He was the main piece that came to Chicago as part of the Jimmy Butler trade that sent Butler to Minnesota, and LaVine to Chicago.

In his eight seasons in Chicago, LaVine averaged 24.2 points per game.

Huerter was originally drafted by the Atlanta Hawks out of Maryland, and was a member of the 2018-2019 All-Rookie Team. He played there for four seasons before being traded to Sacramento.

He fell out of the starting lineup in the 2024-2025 season, but averaged 11.5 across his seven-year career.

This is not only a sign the Bulls are moving on from the core of players that took them to the 2022 NBA Playoffs, but it's a sign the Bulls are building for future seasons to come. Huerter and Collins could be veteran parts of whatever future rosters the Bulls put together.

However, the Bulls did not acquire any additional first-round picks in trades that sent away Alex Caruso, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine. Bulls vied president of basketball operations Artūras Karnišovas faced similar questions after the Bulls acquired Josh Giddey without acquiring a first-round pick in return.

He'll most likely face similar questions after this latest trade, involving the Bulls' best player, which only recouped the Bulls' 2025 first-round selection in its entirety.
