Fowler homers, Corbin solid as Diamondbacks beat Cubs 8-3

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Dexter Fowler homered for his first hit of the spring in the Chicago Cubs' 8-3 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Arizona starter Patrick Corbin went two innings, allowing two unearned runs and two hits. The left-hander, projected to be the Diamondbacks' No. 3 starter behind Zack Greinke and Shelby Miller, struck out three with no walks.

Fowler spurned a bigger offer and made a late decision to return to Chicago last month. In his fourth at-bat of the spring, he drove Randall Delgado's first pitch of the day some 425 feet, far beyond the wall in right-center. The ball landed about halfway up a grassy slope packed with spectators for the sold-out game at Salt River Fields.
