Severe weather threat across Chicagoland today
Kaitlin Cody has your Chicago weather update!
CHICAGO - Today we have A LOT going on with our weather. Let's talk about current conditions and then get into what is on the way.
Right now, at this early afternoon time, we have a HUGE temperature spread. It is in the low and mid 70s south, 50s in Chicago and low 40s north. We have scattered rain with a few rumbles of thunder possible. It is foggy, and a touch gusty with wind of 30-35 mph.
The wind will be picking up and we have a wind advisory in place from 1pm-7pm because of the non-thunderstorm wind of 45-50 mph.
We have the chance for severe storms this afternoon and evening, roughly between 2pm-9pm. All hazards are possible, including damaging hail, wind, and tornadoes. Have multiple ways to receive warnings. This may impact the evening commute.
What's next:
Friday will be cooler with highs in the upper 50s. It will be mostly cloudy with the chance for PM rain and storms into the night.
Saturday will be in the low 60s with mostly cloudy skies and a chance for morning rain.
On Easter, it will be partly sunny with highs in the low to mid 50s.
Monday will be mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 50s. Tuesday will be partly sunny with highs in the low to mid 40s.
