Downers Grove ice festival kicks off Friday with cold temps, but a warmup is coming
DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. - After a very mild few days, temperatures are trending cooler going into the end of the week.
While the cool down will be brief, it’s good news for Downers Grove!
What we know:
The annual Downtown Downers Grove Ice Festival returns this weekend, running from Friday to Sunday.
Given this is an ice festival, it’s a good thing the temperatures are cooling down a bit, at least until Sunday, that is.
Ice carving demonstrations will take place for two hours on Friday, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the intersection of Main and Curtiss Streets.
The fun continues on Saturday and Sunday with ice carving demonstrations taking place outside the Main Street Metra Station from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Completed sculptures will be on display outside businesses and venues in downtown Downers Grove.
Showers are expected to end by Friday kickoff at 5:30 p.m. Festival-goers can expect cloudy skies with temperatures in the low to mid 30s on Friday night.
Saturday and Sunday will be dry and mostly cloudy. Temperatures on Saturday will top out in the upper 30s, and then we soar into the lower 50s on Sunday.
