$250K bond for man charged with stealing Christmas presents on North Side

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Bond was set at $250,000 on Christmas Day for an Evanston man charged with stealing presents in several West Ridge neighborhood burglaries on the North Side.

Alston Rodriguez faces two felony counts each of burglary and attempted burglary, along with a misdemeanor count of obstructing a police officer, Chicago Police announced on Christmas Eve.

The 18-year-old was arrested around 1 a.m.  Thursday after officers saw him enter a residence through a window in the 2100 block of West Rosemont Avenue, police said.

He was connected to several other residential burglaries, and officers recovered multiple stolen items, which included Christmas presents, police said.

Rodgriguez, of the 1700 block of West Dobson Street in Evanston, was ordered held on a $250,000 bond Friday, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. He is due back in court Dec. 30.
