56-year-old man fatally struck by vehicle in Midlothian

MIDLOTHIAN (FOX 32 News) A man was fatally struck by a vehicle Saturday night in south suburban Midlothian.
Andre Jenkins, 56, stepped off the curb at 147th Street and Turner Avenue about 5 p.m. and was struck by an oncoming vehicle, Midlothian Police Chief Harold Kaufman said.
The driver was unable to avoid Jenkins and struck him, Kaufman said.
Jenkins, of the 14700 block of Keystone Avenue in Midlothian, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, and pronounced dead at 5:51 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
An autopsy found he died of multiple injuries and his death was ruled an accident.
“At this point, it doesn’t appear to be any wrongdoing on the part of the driver,” Kaufman said. The driver is not expected to be cited or charged.
