CHICAGO (STMW) - An 8-year-old boy and a man were attacked by a pit bull Saturday afternoon in the Chatham neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The attack happened in the 100 block of East 90th Street about 2 p.m., according to police.

The dog got loose and bit the eight-year-old boy’s leg, police said. The 48-year-old man tried to intervene and was bit in the chin, chest, face, finger, wrist and both legs.

Both the boy and the man, who are not related, were taken to MetroSouth Medical Center, police said. Their conditions were not available Sunday afternoon.

The owner of the pit bull, a 73-year-old woman who lives on the same block, was cited for failure to restrain the dog and no dog license.
