Authorities searching for prisoner who escaped in Auburn Gresham

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - A manhunt is underway Tuesday morning for a missing parolee who gave a corrections officer the slip on Chicago's South Side.

The escapee took off near 77th and Peoria in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood Monday afternoon.

Police say the suspect was on parole and was being arrested when he escaped from corrections officers. He was still wearing handcuffs when he made his break.

Police K-9's have been brought in to help with the manhunt.

The Illinois Department of Corrections has not released a description of the prisoner or what he was being apprehended for.
