Car with 2-year-old girl in back seat stolen in Chicago

The 2-year-old girl who was in the back seat of a stolen car taken Sunday in Lawndale on the West Side has been reunited with her family.

About 12:33 a.m., a 28-year-old woman left her white 2018 Kia Forte outside of a restaurant in the 3900 block of West Roosevelt Road while she went inside to pick up food, Chicago police said. The baby was sleeping in the back seat.

The woman discovered her vehicle gone when she returned, police said.

The child was found about 2:30 a.m. and reunited with her family, police said. She was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital as a precaution.

The vehicle was found around the same time in the 3900 block of West Polk Street, police said.

No one is in custody, and Area North detectives are investigating.
