Chicago shootings: 1 killed, 5 hurt in separate incidents overnight, police say

Six people were shot, including one fatally, in separate incidents between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning across Chicago, according to police.

The victims ranged in age from 25 and 38.

Shootings across Chicago

West Garfield Park:

The first shooting happened in the 4400 block of West Fulton Street in West Garfield Park where a 26-year-old man was shot once in the abdomen.

The victim was unable to speak to officers when they were called to West Suburban Hospital where he was being treated.

No one is in custody.

West Roseland:

The second shooting was called in around 1:30 a.m. in the West Roseland neighborhood where a 38-year-old man was shot.

He was parked in the 10900 block of South Princeton Avenue when two masked offenders approached and began shooting in his direction. He had a graze wound to the top of his head.

The victim was treated by paramedics and taken to Christ Hospital in good condition.

No one is in custody.

Chinatown:

In the third incident, a 35-year-old man was shot in Chinatown.

The man was involved in a fight in the 400 block of West 24th Street with several unknown offenders. 

The offenders left the fight, but one retrieved a handgun and fired at the man, hitting him in the buttocks.

Responding officers arrested the shooter.

The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

Charges are pending.

Austin:

In the Austin neighborhood, a 25-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were in the hallway of an apartment in the 900 block of North Lavergne Avenue when an unknown offender began shooting.

The woman had two gunshot wounds to her left leg. She was treated by paramedics and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in fair condition.

The man had a graze wound to his left elbow. He refused medical services.

No one is in custody.

South Shore:

In the last shooting, an unresponsive 29-year-old female victim was found with a gunshot wound to her chest in the South Shore neighborhood.

Officers responded to the 1800 block of East 79th Street for a call of a person shot and found the victim. She was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center listed in critical condition.

She later died.

No offenders are in custody.
