CHICAGO - A scratch-off lottery ticket worth $1 million was recently sold at a Chicago store.
Just days after the game officially launched in stores, Illinois Lottery officials said Tuesday someone purchased a $20 Merry Multiplier Instant Ticket and won the $1 million top prize.
The winning scratch-off ticket was sold at the Super Shopper Food Mart, located at 1351 West 79th Street in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, lottery officials said.

For selling the winning ticket, the store will receive a bonus of $10,000, or 1% of the prize amount, according to officials.
More than 54 million winning Instant Tickets have been sold so far in 2023, netting players over $1.1 billion in prizes.

Illinois Lottery officials said the winner has one year from the date of the winning draw to claim their prize, and encouraged the newly-minted millionaire to write their name on the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place until they're ready to claim the prize.
