Chicago woman killed in Dolton hit-and-run crash, driver sought: officials

DOLTON - An 18-year-old Chicago woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Dolton last weekend, and authorities are still searching for the driver.

The crash occurred Sunday near Sibley Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, according to Dolton officials.

Officials have not released additional details about the incident.

The victim was identified as Lanai Smith, 18, of Chicago, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. She attended Hyde Park High School.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and all those impacted by this devastating loss," the village said in a statement.

Village officials said investigators have identified the vehicle involved and a possible owner.
