CHICAGO (AP) — Crews are working to restore power in northern Illinois after strong wind gusts led to outages.
ComEd said Thursday afternoon about 4,600 customers remained without power. Another 58,000 customers experienced power outages. Winds reached up to 50 mph overnight.
The severe weather conditions were expected to continue, and ComEd Executive Vice President Terence Donnelly says the rough weather may mean more outages. The utility is encouraging customers to report new problems.
The company reminds people to never touch or approach a downed power line, even if there are no sparks. And if a power line falls on a vehicle, people inside should stay there and wait for help.
