Construction on Niles and Glenview intersections scheduled
NILES, Ill. (STMW) - Construction began last week on two intersections in north suburban Niles and Glenview to modernize traffic signals and sidewalks.
Last Thursday, traffic signal reconstruction began at the intersections of Golf Road and Michael Manor and Golf and Washington Roads in Niles, according to a statement from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Construction also began last Thursday at the intersections of Milwaukee Avenue at Golf Road and Milwaukee and Greenwood Avenue in Niles and Glenview. The project will modernize traffic signals, install signalized pedestrian crosswalks and install sidewalk ramps in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to the agency.
Daytime lane closures will be necessary to complete the construction, so drivers are advised to allow extra travel time through these areas.
Both projects are scheduled to be completed in summer 2016
