Cops: Man who barricaded himself in Edgewater hotel room was suicidal

A man who police say was suicidal barricaded himself inside a hotel room Monday afternoon in the North Side Edgewater neighborhood and was safely negotiated out of the building.

Police responded at 12:05 p.m. to the barricade situation in a room of a hotel in the 5900 block of North Ridge, according to Chicago Police.

About three-and-a-half hours later, he was safely negotiated out of the building and taken to a hospital for an evaluation, police said. His exact age was not released.

CTA No. 84 Peterson buses were temporarily rerouted in the area, according to an alert from the transit agency.
