Driver attempts to lure child into vehicle in West Rogers Park

SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE - A man attempted to lure a child into his vehicle in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side on Thursday.

About 8:05 a.m., the 7-year-old boy was waiting at the corner of Whipple Street and Arthur Avenue when the driver of a red minvan or SUV pulled up and tried to get him inside, according to Chicago Police. The boy ran off and the driver drove away.

The driver was described as a white or Hispanic male of unknown age, about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-11 and 150-190 pounds, police said. He had black hair, a stubble beard, brown eyes, olive complexion and wore glasses. He spoke to the boy with an unknown accent.

The minivan or SUV had a rear liftgate and cracked front bumper, police said. The make, model and year were not known.
