Eagle tries to snatch young boy during bird show

A heart-stopping photo shows the moment an eagle tried to swoop in and snatch a young boy in Australia.

The amazing shot captured the wedge-tailed eagle at Alice Springs Desert Park in Northern Territory of Australia. The eagle was reportedly supposed to fly over to a perch during a birds of prey show, but went for the boy's head instead.

"At a nature park in Alice Springs we decided to go to a bird show the young boy in the green kept pulling his zipper up and down. For some reason the wedge-tailed eagle did not like it and instead of flying over to the log he is meant to for a photo opportunity he flew straight at the young boy and attacked him," a woman who witnessed the incident wrote on Instagram.

The rest of the show was called off. Officials at the park confirmed the incident, saying the eagle has now been removed from future shows. The child received treatment for superficial cuts, as his hoodie appeared to protect him somewhat from the eagle. The wedge-tailed eagle is also known as as an "eaglehawk" and is said to be the largest bird of prey in Australia.
